Becoming a new parent can be a scary, overwhelming process, presenting you with many brand new challenges.
Being pushed for time to get 101 things done is often a challenge faced and so frequently, exercise quickly drops to the bottom of the list.
Classes can be a great way to get back into exercise; being able to follow an instructor as well as having the chance to meet new people and feel more comfortable in a group setting appeals to many.
An exercise class where you are able to attend with your little one is the perfect way to include more movement in your week! Not only are you able to move and feel great, it is an opportunity to connect & spend time with your baby through exercise!
Pilates has a huge number of benefits, particularly for post-natal mothers.
So, why give it a go?
Pilates activates and trains the correct muscles for good posture and alignment (both when training and outside of the gym!)
Every movement in Pilates starts with the core. This ‘powerhouse’ is our foundation of strength and stability utilised in every day exercise and movement.
Pilates engages and utilises the pelvic floor effectively and efficiently, teaching you how to control and strengthen these muscles (which is especially important after being pregnant and giving birth!)
By working slowly and precisely, Pilates activates small, intrinsic muscles which helps with the rehabilitation involved post-birth & pregnancy and reduce the risk of injury as you begin to exercise again.
Tight muscles are more prone to injury. Pilates helps to strengthen and lengthen muscles whilst developing coordination.
Balance & Pain Relief
Pilates works the whole body by balancing muscle weakness and creating more symmetry, therefore increasing movement efficiency. You may feel aches and pains, common in pregnancy and postpartum, are alleviated too!
This postnatal Mum & Baby Pilates class encompasses the whole body, working in a way to support you through your recovery from pregnancy and birth.
It takes part in an incredibly relaxed environment where you and your baby can feel supported whilst you have the opportunity to feel great after a workout!
